For a $1.6 Billion North American distributor with staff of 6,000 personnel, operating in 21 US and Canadian locations:

  • Managed IT & Business Alignment to Support North American Operations.  Aligned IT strategy with key business strategies [Examples: 1) Business Strategy: Trading Partner Collaboration, IT strategy: Define and execute UCCNet, web collaboration and data synchronization projects.  2) Business Strategy: Expense Reduction, IT Strategy: Select and implement E3 demand forecasting system and Manugistics Inbound Transportation system. 3) Business Strategy: Uniform Systems, IT Strategy: Convert legacy systems to a common platform in ten full-function distribution centers. 
  • Implemented $43 Million ERP System / Managed $25 Million Expense & $15 Million Capital Budget Evaluated, selected and implemented ERP system comprised of JD Edwards Oneworld XE, Amtrix Enterprise Application Integration engine, E3 procurement, Manugistics Inbound Transportation and Manhattan PKMS Warehouse Management System. 
  • Reduced Working Capital $20 Million, Improved Service Levels 15% & Cut Inbound Transportation Costs $4 Million by selecting and implementing the ERP system above.   Benefits were explicitly tracked and reported weekly for one year to ensure their full realization.
  • Developed Competitive Advantage Web Application by providing internal users and national customers intuitive drill-down access to enterprise product performance data including item movement, pricing, promotions and price changes -  spanning 6 disparate legacy systems.  This application is unique in the industry and provides significant competitive advantage to the organization. 

 

For a small Strategic and Information Systems Planning and Management Services firm, with a focus on the healthcare, accounting and legal markets:

  • Managed $20 Million HIS Implementation / Achieved $1 Million in Savings - Consulted and managed a $20 million program for Cerner Corporation's Hospital Information System at Cerner's beta site, Oklahoma Baptist Medical Center, an 1100-bed tertiary care center.  Scope included all major departments including Radiology, Medical Records, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Nursing and Pulmonary as well as implementation of Physician's Electronic Workstations.  This project saved $1 million in interface costs while improving productivity by integrating all hospital departments on the same platform.
  • Successfully re-started this troubled project with go-live conducted on time and within budget.  Led multiple multidisciplinary teams headed by:  Manager - Clinical Systems (7 staff members); VP Training (5); Nursing Director (15); Directors of Radiology (3); Medical Records (3); Pulmonary (2); Pharmacy (3); Cerner Implementation Manager (20), Consulting Implementation Manager (5). 

 

For a 600-bed multi-hospital regional tertiary care medical center:

  • Implemented $5 Million HIS Project  / Achieved $300,000 in IT Labor Savings - Implemented a new Hospital Information System that included evaluating, selecting and implementing high quality, low cost Human Resources/Payroll and Laboratory systems.  Successfully reduced IT turnover from 75% to less than 10% which provided annual savings of $300,000.  Stabilized erratic System/38 (AS400) clinical and financial systems environment. 
  • Developed Inventory Control System that Captured $600,000 in Additional Annual Revenue - Led development of an Inventory Control System (PC barcode Par-level system) that enabled capture of previously lost charges of $600,000 annually.  Directed development of a LAN based Executive Information System that enabled improved decision making through presentation of key physician and operating information in a user-friendly, graphical format.

 

For a "Big 5" Consulting Firm:

  • Managed Over 30 Projects ranging from $1 Million to $5 Million -  Reviewed controls over automated systems and recommended EDP improvements for clients in the banking, health care and municipal utilities fields. Client systems ranged in size from microcomputers to large-scale mainframes.
  • Healthcare - Directed conceptual and detailed design of a computerized hospital cost management system at a medium size Florida hospital.  Reviewed automated in/outpatient charge system of large Florida hospital; recommended system enhancements and developed long-range improvement alternatives.  Assisted in RFP development for computer hardware and software for a 450 bed Florida hospital; RFP encompassed all hospital functions including patient care, laboratory and financial systems.  Assisted in evaluation of proposals, vendor selection and contract negotiation. Developed an office automation strategy addressing word processing, microcomputers and central system interfaces for a large Florida hospital.  Directed planning, conversion and implementation of a comprehensive automated financial and patient care system for a 264-bed hospital.
  • Logistics - Defined requirements for an automated international freight registration and container tracking system for a Florida moving company; prepared RFP for development of the system and assisted in proposals evaluation and contract negotiation.
  • Developed an Information Systems Plan and associated $5 million automation strategy for a Florida municipal government agency.  Evaluated and selected hardware and software, and planned organization of the data processing function for a large Florida commercial real estate developer/operator with over 20 commercial office parks across the US. 
  • Coordinated development of an automated system for producing consolidated financial statements for a large Florida bank holding company.  Directed design, development and implementation of a comprehensive microcomputer-based purchasing and inventory control system for a large southeast electric generating utility. 
  • Directed design, development and implementation of a mainframe/microcomputer system to perform billing and accounts receivable processing for a large stockholder accounting organization.  Enhanced litigation support software which provided comprehensive reporting of all construction related disbursements for the client of a large law firm. 
  • Analyzed data processing alternatives for a Florida municipality; examined feasibility of automation through use of local service bureaus and in-house minicomputers. Analyzed data processing alternatives and provided short/long range EDP strategy recommendations for the Port Authority of a medium size Florida city.  Evaluated long-range EDP plan for a large Florida mortgage banking/insurance company.
